"In-Style" Multiway Sterling Necklace - White
This necklace is a staple for your wardrobe. They are little works of art, and it starts at the torch. I begin by making several focal glass beads in a similar color palette. I really like at least 1-2 focal glass disc beads, with 4-7 layers of various glass rolled in raku frit. Then I make several smaller glass beads, which I use for accents, in addition to matching earrings. After the beads are cooled in a digital kiln, they are then taken off the mandrels and cleaned with a high power dremel tool, to get all of the bead release which is a chalky material that keeps the glass from sticking to the mandrel that it is made on. After this process, I then began gathering an assortment of unique beads that I have collected over the past 30 years. I love using pearls, gemstones, vintage items and wood. Once I have enough of an assortment to work with, I then collect my sterling silver chain that has been carefully curated. I then oxidize it using a material called liver of sulfur, which turns the chain black. From there, I then hand polish the chain to the point where only the black remains in the decorative stamping or design that is on the chain. I use only the finest chains.
Once all of the preparation is complete, I finally start wire wrapping! I use 22 gauge sterling silver to wire wrap each different section. These necklaces take HOURS to make and are simply works of art and each one is thoughtfully designed.
