These are my pride and joy! This necklace never goes out of style! I pride myself on using the highest quality findings and beads. I use sterling silver chain that I oxidize by myself, then polish it off to make the chain detail show up even more. I use a toggle closure in the front, and use it to hang the charms. The focal bead is a lampwork glass bead that I make. Lampwork beads are created by melting glass rods over an oxygen/propane torch that is about 1500 degrees. After the bead is created it goes immediately into a digital kiln that is programmed to slowly cool the beads, which allows a nice cool, so that the glass bonds and is molecularly strong and solid. Each bead is then cleaned with a dremel tool to get the bead release (which prevents the glass from sticking to the metal rod). It’s a long process to say the least! I’ve worked on a bead for up to 25 minutes before! An average bead takes about 5-7 minutes! The bead has been wire wrapped on sterling wire and I use sterling thai spacers to finish the pendant. The center charm is one of my favorite artists that I’ve known for over 25 years! In college, she sold her creations to a local bead store on OSU campus. Her name is Cynthia Thornton and her business is Green Girl Studios. She’s an amazing artist! I own about every one of her bead designs. They are whimsical and meaningful! The necklace is finished with a briolette gemstone in a complimentary color!
